5×10 Free Chicken Coop Plan

This little coop was originally designed as an addition to our chicken complex in order to accommodate our ever growing chicken population. The shed roof design made it easy to butt up against the existing chicken coop, constructing a passage from one to the other.

The 3×5 enclosed area provides the chickens with a place to bed down, while the 5×7 open area allows them fresh air and contact with their natural surroundings. This coop was constructed without a floor to allow the chickens to access the natural ground. The coop can be moved around in the yard to give the chickens fresh ground to cover. In the
colder months, lining the bottom of the coop with hay will keep your fowl friends comfortable.
All of our wood sheds, storage sheds, garden sheds, cottages and utility enclosures are built of the finest Vermont lumber and handcrafted for long life and durability. New England weather can really put a wood garden shed or cottage to the test, and Jamaica Cottage Shop’s products have proven to stand the test of time.

INTERNAL PARASITE CONTROL

Chickens will be stronger and healthier when parasites are controlled. By not controlling internal parasites, chickens will not grow as well, lower egg production and increased susceptibility to other diseases. Small chickens are the most seriously affected by internal parasites and some may even die.
It is best to deworm the entire flock with pills according, to these sizes:

 INTERNAL PARASITE CONTROL

Deworming pills can be purchased in veterinary drug stores under the name
TRIPLE WORMER or WORMAL. The treatment should be repeated every three
months. To save time, deworming can be done with the vaccination against Newcastle
disease.
